  • There are few moments that have truly overwhelmed me and I take pride in being able to keep my emotions in check while working, but as soon as the light disappeared and it was time to let this Temminck’s Pangolin go on with its evening, I started to cry. I was so overcome with gratitude and wonder at the opportunity to see such a beautifully unique animal, one I never thought I’d have the chance to see, given its status as the most trafficked mammal on the black market, meaning all 8 species of Pangolin throughout Africa and Asia are in danger of extinction. To witness one of these gentle, docile creatures as it searches for ants and termites to eat, left me in complete awe as well as disbelief that people could be so cruel to these helpless animals.

  • Not many things compare to seeing the sleek silhouette of a cheetah walking through a golden field at dusk.

  • I love this image not only for its symmetry but also because of the older, larger male Impala in the distance looking on as these two younger males size each other up. I can’t help but think he must be laughing inside with the confidence that only comes with age, seeing these two whose horns are barely half his size.

  • With less than six thousand Black Rhino left on earth, seeing them in the wild is one of the great privileges I get as a wildlife photographer and filmmaker in Africa. A subadult stood behind its mother for just a moment as the moon rose behind them. A truly magical scene and one I had to really push my camera to get in such dark conditions. I bundled up a jacket and leaned it on the edge of the vehicle I was in. I tried to balance it as steadily as I could to get a slow enough exposure to capture this once in a lifetime scene.

  • It was such a magical moment seeing so many Southern White Rhinos together in the wild. The sky was moody as it approached sunset and made the perfect setting for a silhouette. I also filmed this scene as each rhino moved about, eventually all exiting the frame.
