• Crowned Lemur Black Lemur hybrid, Madagascar
Crowned Lemur Black Lemur hybrid, Ma...jpg
  • The Red-tailed Black Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus banksii samueli) is a large black cockatoo native to Australia.

Adult males have a characteristic pair of bright red panels on the tail that gives the species its name. This particular subspecies exists in four scattered populations: in central coastal Western Australia from the Pilbara south to the northern Wheatbelt in the vicinity of Northam, and inland river courses in Central Australia, southwestern Queensland and the upper Darling River system in Western New South Wales.

Birds of this subspecies are generally smaller with smaller bills than the nominate banksii.

  • As I approached the area this endangered Black Rhinoceros was laying down sleeping in the lush grass and I didn’t notice it at first. After observing it for a while, it gently stirred and eventually stood to its feet bathed in the soft golden glow of early morning in Laikipia, Kenya.
Black Rhinoceros at dawn, Laikipia, ..2016
  • With less than six thousand Black Rhino left on earth, seeing them in the wild is one of the great privileges I get as a wildlife photographer and filmmaker in Africa. A subadult stood behind its mother for just a moment as the moon rose behind them. A truly magical scene and one I had to really push my camera to get in such dark conditions. I bundled up a jacket and leaned it on the edge of the vehicle I was in. I tried to balance it as steadily as I could to get a slow enough exposure to capture this once in a lifetime scene.

  • The black mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis) is a species of venomous snake belonging to the family Elapidae. It is native to parts of sub-Saharan Africa.
It is the second-longest venomous snake after the king cobra; mature specimens generally exceed 2 m (6 ft 7 in) and commonly grow to 3 m (9 ft 10 in).

The species is both terrestrial and arboreal; it inhabits savannah, woodland, rocky slopes and in some regions, dense forest.
It is diurnal and is known to prey on birds and small mammals.
Over suitable surfaces, it can move at speeds up to 16 km/h (10 mph) for short distances.
Adult black mambas have few natural predators.

Its venom is primarily composed of neurotoxins that often induce symptoms within ten minutes, and is frequently fatal unless antivenom is administered.
